This seminar will cover the installation and design requirements for sprinkler systems protecting storage. This lecture will specifically review the spacing, positioning and obstruction rules for CMDA, CMSA, and ESFR sprinklers as well as the design options associated with each. Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to: select the appropriate type of sprinkler based on the building construction, apply the appropriate design requirements based on the assigned hazard, use and apply the different obstruction rules for the three sprinkler types discussed.

11:00AM - 12:00PM - AFSA’s Sprinkler Challenge: NFPA 24 & NFPA 291, 2019 Editions
This seminar is modeled after a popular game show, AFSA's technical experts will highlight commonly misunderstood or improperly interpreted sections of NFPA 24, Standard for the Installation of Private Fire Service Mains and Their Appurtenances, and NFPA 291, Recommended Practice for Fire Flow Testing and Marking of Hydrants. The 2019 editions of the standards will be utilized even though most of the items discussed have remained the same in previous editions. True or False questions will be presented in this live presentation that will make the attendee think and respond.  The correct answer will be displayed with a discussion explaining why the answer is correct.

12:30PM - 4:00PM - NFPA 20 (2019 Ed.) Fire Pumps
This seminar focuses on the installation of stationary fire pumps and the requirements of the 2016 edition of NFPA 20. This lecture-based seminar discusses pump types, electric motor and diesel engine drivers along with their associated controllers. The installation requirements for fire pumps are also reviewed. Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to: explain the organization of NFPA 20, describe the various types of fire pumps, locate and apply the basic installation requirements for stationary fire pumps, drivers, and controllers.
